What We Do

Our club provides a fun, stimulating and positive environment for people with mild to moderate dementia. 

About the club

Our 3 hour groups incorporate Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) with fun activities and discussions, whilst providing carers and loved ones with a much needed break, where they can relax knowing that their loved one is in a safe environment.

A maximum of 8 people per club 

To make this club as effective as possible, we have limited the numbers to achieve a small fun and friendly group where everyone’s views are appreciated and encouraged. 

A social club to meet new friends

The club facilitates a range of activities, and allows members to be social. Whether they want to have a chat, reminisce, offer support to other members, or engage in light activities, we do it all!

What is Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)?

CST is a non-pharmacological evidence based intervention for those with mild to medium dementia. It comprises of at least 14 themed sessions and then continuing maintenance sessions. Dementia cannot be cured but CST can help with:

Carers support Groups


These groups are for anyone affected by dementia. You will be able to ask questions and advice as well as having a cuppa! Get to know others in a similar situation and hopefully have some fun. No need to book, just come along and meet others. These groups are held every week.

First Friday of the month (STC)


Dementia Friendly Hampshire are delighted to offer equine therapy sessions in collaboration with us, Recapture Life, who are running the sessions. It is an hour long on the first Friday of the Month, We are offering 4 spaces per session. Equine therapy is excellent for physical and mental health, developing new skills and enhancing wellbeing. This is a session for the person with a diagnosis and their carer. If you are interested please contact Jane Ward.

Cookery Courses


Mondays


Are you a carer for someone with a memory problem? Would you like to update your cooking skills to provide nutritious meals. No experience necessary.

Also a group that supports your loved one whilst you cook. 


Free 6 week course with Corals Cookery School. All food provided to take home.

Monday afternoons 3.00pm-5.15pm, Portchester Community Centre.

Tuesdays


Does your loved one have a memory problem but would still like to have fun cooking?

Then this could be a course for you.


A Free 6 week Cookery course with students of Fareham college. Fully supported course giving you an opportuinty to enjoy cooking with others. Plus you take your food home to eat later.

Tuesday afternoons 2.00pm-4.00pm, Fareham College.


Spaces are limited so please get in contact if your interested.

  • We also offer 1 hour C.S.T sessions at care-home settings.


 

Please note:

All places for the CST courses, Equine Therapy and cookery courses are booked in advance and are not drop ins. This is because they have limited spaces. Our carer groups at Cowplain and Bridemary are both drop ins.
